Niagara real estate, from someone who's actually from here.

A version of Niagara that doesn't exist anymore.
I grew up in Niagara in a version of it that doesn't exist anymore. In the 1980s I worked a summer job at Crystal Beach Amusement Park — the Comet was still standing, Loganberry drinks were still on the menu, and at the end of every shift I bicycled home because there was no local bus then. The park closed on Labour Day 1989. That version of the region isn't coming back, but the sensibility of it — small-town, generous, quietly proud — is still what I'm working for.
I have faint memories of the 1972 Canadian Open at Cherry Hill Golf Club in Ridgeway, too. I was too young to really understand what was happening. It's the kind of thing you don't realize was formative until much later, when someone asks where you're from.
The home decision is almost never just about the home.
I went through a divorce. I packed up the family home alone. I started over with two kids. And in doing that, I learned something I didn't fully understand when I was helping other people buy and sell homes as a job: the home decision is almost never just about the home. It's about who you're becoming.
That experience is why my practice today looks the way it does. I work with a lot of women in their 50s and 60s who are reimagining what home means for them — after a divorce, after the kids leave, after a partner passes, or simply after realizing that the house they chose in their 30s doesn't fit the life they're building now. I've named that work Her Next Chapter, and it's the vertical I've become known for.

I'm Not Crazy, You're Not Crazy: It's Menopause.
I wrote a book called I'm Not Crazy, You're Not Crazy: It's Menopause — A Girlfriend's Guide to Survive. It's not a real estate book. It's about the layered reality of midlife that most women navigate without support. Writing it taught me how much of the real estate work I do is really about that same transition. Available on Amazon. More at notcrazyjustmenopause.com.
Three principles, borrowed from a mentor I was lucky to have.
- People are the commodity, not inventory.Every relationship is the actual work. The listings are logistics.
- Ask why before you ask when."When will the market turn?" is the wrong question. "Why does this decision keep coming back to you?" is usually the right one.
- Answer the phone. Know your name.Whatever scales without this isn't real success.
